Heat pump installations in Scotland rose by 113% between 2020 and 2023, according to data from the MCS Foundation, covering the period since the Scottish Greens joined the Scottish Government.
Heat pumps are one of the best ways to cut both carbon and heating bills, especially in rural homes off the gas grid, which describes much of the Borders.
We want to go further: grants that cover the full cost of heat pumps, solar panels and insulation for those who need them most, and a retrofit programme for older Borders homes that are hard and expensive to heat.
