Pollinators along the Tweed: something has gone radically wrong

Have you noticed fewer bees and butterflies this year? Our insects have been in decline for many years, but this year has been a particular cause for concern.

Pollinators Along the Tweed is a Buglife project creating a network of habitat for pollinating insects along the River Tweed: a ‘B-Line’ to increase and connect areas of wildflower-rich habitat across the Tweed catchment.

I have a passion for pollinators; they are crucial to our biodiversity, our life support system. In recent years I have volunteered sowing and collecting seed and planting native wildflowers around Peebles with Buglife, and this summer I took part in FIT (Flower-Insect Timed) counts for the first time up at Corehead.”
