The people of Cardrona asked for a bus stop and they’re still waiting

Cardrona is a growing village between Peebles and Innerleithen, and residents have been asking for a proper bus stop.

Earlier this year, local councillors delivered a public transport survey to every home in the village. More than 100 residents replied before it closed on 1 June. By the end of August, Innerleithen and District Community Council heard that councillors were still waiting for officers to arrange a meeting to go through the results.

In nearby Innerleithen, residents have petitioned for the X62 to stop in the middle of town, because many of the people who rely on it are elderly.

These are small asks. A village like Cardrona should not have to wait months for an answer on a bus stop. Scottish Borders Greens want a minimum bus service guarantee for every community, and a council that acts on what residents tell it.
