I was born and grew up in Glasgow, lived most of my life in Newcastle and made my home in East Berwickshire three years ago. Since then, as a Berwickshire Granarchist, a grassroots campaigning group, and as a trustee of a community development charity, I’ve worked for social justice and land reform, against racism and trident.
It’s a privilege to live in the Borders with its beautiful wide open spaces but I’m aware not everyone can enjoy it equally. Transport problems isolate many; fuel poverty runs at 39% and the need for food banks grows; young people leave because of lack of opportunity.
The Greens offer a different vision to combat these long standing problems, beginning with greater grass roots democracy. As a Green and a Granarchist, I will support local people to make their voices heard.
